If I had to guess, I would guess that most travelers have booked a trip to a location specifically to attend an event of some sort. Whether that be a convention in Las Vegas, an award ceremony in New York City, a music festival in Austin, or what have you. What I would have never guessed is that some people won’t travel to a place where there is no event of some sort going on.

For most ThreadTripping readers I would expect taking a laptop on your trips isn’t just a no-brainer, it’s practically a requirement – possibly even an actual requirement for your job, even if taking vacation time. But this discussion got me to wondering if that is true.
Collecting postcards is also sort of like collecting an anachronistic artifact; an item that, before the mass consumerization of handheld and digital cameras, served the useful purpose of capturing an image of your trip, and now exists mostly as a charming recollection of how things used to be – not all that long ago.
