TSA Airport of the Year – The Results Are Finally In

After an agonizingly long wait the results we have all been eagerly anticipating have been announced. Of course, if you are like most of us you know what I’m referring to and have already heard the news, but for those of you who might have missed it:

Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport was named by the TSA as the Airport of the Year!!!

According to the announcement, which was releases on KTAR.com:

The TSA said Sky Harbor received the award because it showed more than 42 million annual passengers “exceptional courtesy and attentiveness” while maintaining a high level of security.

Ok, how many of you had PHX marked down on your pre-TSA awards announcement scorecard? I was really rooting for Grand Rapids’ Gerald R. Ford International Airport this year, but once again it was overlooked by the TSA academy of voters.

It seems I’m not alone in my disappointment, as several FlyerTalkers also expressed dismay at the selection:

Did they just throw a list of airports into a hat and pick one out? ~tom911

So an airport with TSO’s who imho have THE worst professional attitude work at an airport voted by the TSA to be airport of the year? ~goalie

In related news, I’m holding a beauty contest today, and will name myself “the most handsome man in the world”. And TSA wonders why people view them as a joke. ~cynicAAl

In the spirit of the People’s Choice awards, in the comments section below please place your nomination for the airport with the best TSA experience, and explain your reasoning.

  1. I fly out of Sky harbor every week. I totally agree with the win. It’s one of my favorite airports.
