I stumbled across this thread in which travelers were asked to recount their favorite holiday trips they took as kids. And it’s one of those discussions that baffles me as to why it didn’t generate more interest than it did.
Remember back in 2008/2009 when times were grand? Airlines were offering double and triple miles promotions, and hotels were practically giving rooms away. Oh sure, there were some concerns about the stability of the world economies and massive world wars. But look hard enough and you can always find a dark side.
According to an MIT study, online reviews can be skewed dramatically due to a social “herd effect” – which mostly results in over-ratings.
For my money, one of the reasons forums are still thriving – particularly travel forums – is due to posters like IsleofMan. Where else but on a travel community could you find someone who is willing to post an exceptionally thorough review of a $30 overnight bag, replete with a photo series of packing instructions?

Lots of people love animals. Doesn’t mean they love the zoo. You might love fried chicken and hate KFC restaurants. Most of you reading this love to travel. But how do you feel about airports?
Evidently, low cost carrier Jet2 has a seating policy that states – and I’m paraphrasing here – you wants to sit next to your SO, you pays to sit next to your SO. But some travelers have a sneaking suspicion Jet2 might have taken this policy to the next money-making level.

It’s impressive enough to get up and workout before breakfast when you are at home, much less when you are on vacation cruising around the Caribbean, Mediterranean, or where have you.
