On a Guided Tour the Guide Makes All the Difference

I have not personally ever taken a guided tour trip, but I know others who have and seem to really enjoy them. Within the online travel communities, however, you don’t come across a whole lot of guided tour trip reports in which the reporter offers effusive praise.

But elberko certainly seems to be the exception with this report of a National Geographic guided tour of Patagonia.

I have never done an escorted tour before, and wasn’t crazy about the idea of the cruise part of this trip, but decided this was the only way I could do this. … I really can’t say enough good things about this tour. The guides went out of their way to make sure things went smoothly, and there was always a plan B, if there was a reason Plan A wasn’t possible. Would happily travel with them again.

Of course, that’s just a minisculey small snippet from the report – you will have to click through to read the entire thing.

In addition to the report itself, I was amused by this bit of back and forth further down in the discussion:

I am extremely jealous. ~colduphere

If you can’t make fellow travelers jealous then really, what’s the point? ~elberko

Truer words have never been spoken :).
