The Next Trip Is Always the Best Trip

Trip reports can be great reads, and great resources if you are planning a trip to the same destination. And in some cases a good trip report can create a desire to visit the destination being reported on.

But never in my recollection have I come across a thread that inspires as much excitement for future travel as this one in which sanderskn simply asks fellow travelers to:

Tell me about your next trip or the next trip you’re dreaming of!

Most of the replies are short on specifics and long on enthusiasm, but read as a whole the thread practically forces you to begin planning your own next trip. Trust me, to get the full effect of the passion you really need to read the entire thread, but here are a few sample quotes to whet your whistle.

Next September, taking my Mom back to Italy. She’ll be 81, and wants to see Lake Como and Venice again. First three nights in Varenna to relax and recover from jet-lag, then off to Venice. Just plan on wandering, getting lost, and eating well. ~Eric

I’m very excited to be going back to Italy next year for the first time in 20 years! Rome and areas south of Rome. ~Leigh

biking with my Jack Russell, Thor, from Vienna up the Danube and through part of Germany. From there across the Alps (some train time, but not much) and into Sudtirol. ~Alex

I was lucky enough to snag tickets to a U2 concert in NY in July (I’ve been wanting to return to NYC so bad!). So, NYC for 5 or 6 nights in July, and most likely will do France in mid-Sept. ~Nicole P

Can’t you just feel the excitement. This is a great thread to bookmark and open up on those tough days at work or on the road. A quick read and you’ll not only remember why you suffer through the tough days, but also get your juices flowing to work on planning that next big trip.

Read the thread in its entirety: tell me about your next trip
