A Hertz Perk You Might Not Know About

It seems Hertz might be quietly expanding a service that it has been offering in at least a limited way for years. Namely, when you drop off your rental a Hertz agent will drive you to the terminal – and in some cases even back to your hotel – in the same car you just dropped off.

FlyerTalkers are sharing their experiences with this perk:

I was surprised when a Hertz return agent checked the car back in and offered me a ride back to the terminal. It was at ATL so it was a meaningful offer since it meant avoiding the 15-20 min tram ride back to the terminal. The lady said that they have been doing this “valet service” for a couple months ~fried.food.is.good

I’ve had three experiences at LAX where I was offered a ride to the terminal, and once to my local hotel. ~danville 1K

Based on accounts of when, where and to whom this service has been offered, it isn’t entirely clear if it’s a benefit of status, offered mostly to groups or families traveling with infants, or perhaps just something an agent will do for you if they aren’t busy or are feeling in a particularly good mood.

Another interesting aspect of this discussion is that no one seems to ask for the service … it is only something that is received when offered.

Have you been offered a ride to the terminal when dropping off at Hertz? What about other car rental companies? Evidently at least one member doesn’t believe Avis offers anything similar:

If they really have this Chairman as Avis is looking even more worthless. ~alphaod

  1. Dropped off my Hertz rental at EWR at 1pm today – renter in front of me was offered the drop off to the terminal, but he laughed it off as a joke. I was not offered the services. I am 5* with Hertz.

  2. I was offered this service once by Hertz at PHL. I don’t know if it was due to my PC status or the golf clubs I had but it was definitely a nice perk.

  3. Had it happen at hnl with hertz. Had the whole family in a mini van, so it was great! We’re just basic members in their program, no status

  4. I had a person who took my return rental in Barcelona & drove me to my airport
hotel. I was very thankful as it saved a lot of time. It was Hertz & I am a Hertz Gold.

  5. It seems a pattern is beginning to form. A PC member traveling with golf clubs is offered the service, as is a basic member traveling with the entire family, but the 5* member is left in the cold. Lots of baggage – whether that be luggage or family – appears to be more important than status with regard to being offered this particular perk.

  6. Silvercar does the same thing. I had a great experience with them at LAX. They even brought be back to my hotel instead of the airport.

  7. This is a well-known perk of Avis Chairman. In fact, if you are a chairman the rental agreement folder says “Valet service” on it. You display that side of the folder as you drive up and they rush to get someone to give you a ride.
