As is stated on the “About” page, ThreadTripping is all about highlighting great conversations among travelers, no matter where those conversations are taking place. And in this instance, there is a fantastic conversation happening on another BA blog – Points, Miles and Martinis.
The premise, as put forward by The Weekly Flyer, is inspired:
I was watching family feud the other day and it got me thinking. If asked, what would your first answer to the question: What is the first thing you do when you get into your hotel room for the first time?
Firstly, I love that the concept for the discussion starter was Family Feud-driven. That in and of itself has got to be a first.
Secondly, I love the question. Myself? I tend to check out the view and test if the window opens as the first thing I do when I enter my hotel room. But would this be my Family Feud answer if I tapped the buzzer first, my family behind me awaiting my answer with bated breath – 1/5th of several thousand dollars being at stake. Not to mention the pride of winning “The Feud”.
But mostly, I love the answers posted by commenters on the blog:
First thing I do is flush the toilet. If that doesn’t work, I want to know BEFORE I have to use it. ~Brian L.
Take photos for the inevitable TripAdvisor review. Then clean the remote. ~Rye
Take my trousers off. ~ Traveller
That is just three of the 15 comments at the time of this writing – and almost every person’s must-do-first activity is different, and reasonable.
The only problem with this conversation – I still don’t know how I’d answer the question under the pressure of the Family Feud studio lights.
