Is Aer Lingus’s Celebrity Chef Any Good on the Ground?

There was a time when many of the greatest singers – how shall we say – had faces that were great for radio.

Jagger, Cocker, Joplin … amazing artists one and all, but not so hot in the looks category. Then along came MTV, Milli Vanilli, C&C Music Factory, and the death of the singer with less-than-model good looks.

And so it is becoming today with celebrity chefs. Truthfully, 10-15 years ago did you know or care what the chef who prepared the food you were eating looked like? Of course not. If you did you wouldn’t have been eating at Emeril’s in New Orleans or The Lady and Sons in Savannah.

But then along came The Food Network and now we watch De Laurentis, Ramsay, Ray, and McKenna.

And so it is with Clodagh McKenna, my dear readers, that we come back around to travel.

You see, this stunning figure of a chef has partnered with Aer Lingus to develop some tasty in-flight menu items. Having tried some of this in-flight fare, uggboy decided to give one of her restaurants a go – Clodagh’s Kitchen at Arnotts department store in Dublin, Ireland.

So how was it? No spoilers here; you are going to have to read uggboy’s post for the full review. But here are a few snippets just to give you an idea of what to expect – sort of an amuse-bouche for the mind:

Clodagh McKenna is responsible for running the restaurant. She is also working together with Aer Lingus and created some in-flight meals, which we already tried. The quality was good, so we hoped the restaurant would be the same. … We were welcomed warmly and could choose any table we liked. … We were nearly alone, beside some much older couples and ladies. … The emphasis is on Irish produce and staples like egg dishes.
